Bulgaria's opponents for the 2026 U18 Women's European Championship have been determined. The draw for the championship took place today, and the competition will be held from July 1 to 12 in Lithuania and Latvia.
The Bulgarian national team will play its matches in Lithuania, where it has been drawn into an extremely competitive group. The team's opponents will be host nation Lithuania, as well as Hungary, Germany, Netherlands, Finland, Greece, and France.
In the other pool – Group A – the draw brought together some of the traditional powerhouses in European volleyball: Italy, Turkey, Poland, and Belgium, along with host nation Latvia, Spain, Czech Republic, and Iceland.
The tournament regulations foresee a serious battle already in the group stage. The top two teams from each group will qualify directly for the Final Four, while the fifth and sixth placed teams in the final standings will receive quotas for the World Championship based on ranking.
The Bulgarian team enters the tournament with serious ambitions, being the reigning European champion in this age category. Atanas Petrov's squad secured its participation after a strong performance at the second qualification tournament in Sofia, where they recorded three wins from three matches against Sweden, Romania, and Greece.
