Several new rules were announced at the press conference before the Del Monte® Italian Cup men's Final Four tournament: the event will take place at the Unipol Arena in Bologna next weekend, on January 25th and 26th, where the four qualified teams will compete for the 47th Italian Cup.
The last announced novelty, exclusively reported at the press conference, concerns court changes:instead of the traditional exchange after each set, teams will only switch courts once - after the second set.In case of a tie-break, the usual coin toss will take place, and courts will be switched at the 8th point. As for changes from the championship rules, the benches will be facing the television cameras: coaches, substitute players, and warm-up areas will be part of the show, with every celebration and reaction being even better captured.Besides these initiatives to enhance the spectacle, the most discussed topic at the press conference was the 'dead time' between rallies: once again,a 15-second timer between rallies will be experimented with. This will speed up the resumption of play and increase tension for both spectators at the Unipol Arena and television audiences. To further increase the pace of the competition, onlyone time-out per set will be allowed. This choice aims to make the game more fluid and less fragmented, maintaining high competitive tension.
