Prior to that, both teams had a game lead in the match. Guests from Montana took the opening set 25:21, but had to catch up after losing the second and third 22:25 and 17:25.

In the tie-break, neither team had a lead of more than 2 points. Montana led 12:10, but Neftochimic reached match point first at 14:13. A new turnaround followed, with three match points for the team from Northwest Bulgaria - at 15:14, 16:15 and 17:16.

However, with a powerful attack by Rozalin Penchev, Neftochimic took a 19:18 lead, and immediately after that came Balabanov's error, who sent the ball behind the end line from zone 4.
