On this date in 2004Tsvetan Sokolov becomes the youngest volleyball player to play in European tournaments. He debuted in the third set during Marek Union-Ivkoni's away game in Romania against "Astra" in Ploiești, recording 2 points from attack. Daniel Tsvetanov (outside hitter) and Tsvetan Hristov (middle blocker) played for the Romanian team then. The head coach of the Dupnitsa team was Viktor Karagyozov. Sokolov debuted exactly one month before turning 15. Marek lost their away game 1:3, and Sokolov became the big sensation after the match, with all media grabbing him for interviews.
Coincidentally, during the match itself, Karagyozov's wife, Iva Shkodreva, gave birth to their son Nikola.
