Nikolov vs. Tatarov 3:0, Grottazzolina still waiting for first win

Alex Nikolov emerged victorious from the "Bulgarian" derby of the Marche region, where Giampaolo Medei's team visited Massimiliano Ortenzi's team in a rescheduled match from the 11th round of the regular season. Lube managed to defeat the hosts 3-0 (25:23, 25:18, 25:21), who were without former national player Oleg Antonov, but had to raise their level to secure a full points. The match at PalaSavelli was evenly contested for a long time, with the difference coming from Lube's greater attacking efficiency and strong performances in blocking and serving by their players. "The Batteries" managed to take a two-point lead at the end of the third set, but a poor reception by our Georgi Tatarov turned the tide of events in that set. This was also the hosts' only chance to do something memorable.
Lagumdzija finished as MVP and top scorer with 16 points (78% efficiency and 2 aces). Botolo also reached double digits (11). For the hosts, as expected, Fedrizzi (11) and Petkovic (10) were the most dangerous.
Alex Nikolov finished with 8 points; Georgi Tatarov also finished with the same total (1 ace).
This is the first official meeting between the two teams in history. The hosts from Grottazzolina, on the other hand, dreamed of their first victory in the championship.

The rescheduling of the 11th-round match of the SuperLega Credem Banca was necessary due to Lube's participation in the Club World Championship, which will take place from December 10 to 15 in Brazil. The departure of the "red and whites" for Uberlândia is planned precisely for the weekend of the regular season's interim stage - December 7 and 8.
Both teams needed to turn the page after a disappointing weekend and had to fight for three important points for their respective goals. Lube wants to finish the first half of the regular season in the top 4 to play a home match in the quarterfinals of the Del Monte Italian Cup, and to break their losing streak as guests. The three points won propel Nikolov and his teammates to 20 points and third place in the provisional standings for the Del Monte® Coppa Italia, but there is still no certainty that they will play the quarterfinal in a single match as a seeded and home team. To achieve this goal, they will need another convincing performance at the Eurosuole Forum against Itas Trentino in the 10th round, scheduled for Sunday, December 1 (7:00 PM Bulgarian time), which for Lube and the Tyroleans will practically be their hundredth meeting. The hosts from Grottazzolina, on the other hand, dreamed of their first victory in the championship.
