Niki Penchev underwent emergency appendectomy today, the club announced. The operation was performed by Professor Filipov's team at "St. Ivan Rilski" University Hospital. Penchev made a key contribution to the "armymen's" victory over his former team Epicentr Podolyany in the Challenge Cup. This means he will be out of CSKA's squad for the matches against Belgian Menen in the 1/8 finals of the tournament. The first match is on December 3rd at 7 PM in Sofia's "Hristo Botev" hall. The return leg is on December 17th. According to doctors, recovery from this type of operation requires at least a month.
