Modena secured the last quota for the European tournaments after defeating Trento 3:1 (25:21, 23:25, 25:21, 25:13) and winning the playoffs final for 5th place in Italy. Thus, the team qualified for the CEV Challenge Cup.
For Trento, the season definitively turned into a complete failure, especially in the absence of Alessandro Michieletto. The team was once again hit by an injury after Bristot left the court in the third set, and after that, the team's resistance collapsed.
Modena dominated mainly from service – with 10 aces, as Poro and Davyskiba each recorded 4 direct points. The hosts were more stable both in blocking and in attack, with 60% efficiency against only 47% for Trento. Davyskiba finished with 17 points, Buzzeger added 18, and Poro scored 20 for Modena's success, which deservedly returns to Europe.
The victory also became an emotional farewell for part of the Modena team, as Davyskiba, Sanguinetti, and Buzzeger played their last match in the yellow-blue kit. Meanwhile, speculations continue around Modena regarding the future of coach Alberto Giuliani, who is increasingly rumored to be leaving the club despite his contract until 2028. According to reports in Italy, the coach, who also led Bulgarian club Hebar Pazardzhik, is among the options to take over Olympiacos next season.
