The German Volleyball Federation has appointed Giulio Bregoli as the new head coach of the women's national team. The 50-year-old Italian currently coaches Reale Mutua Fenera Chieri '76 in the Italian Serie A1 (where Bulgarian with an Italian passport, Ofelia Malinov, played until last season). Bregoli signed a contract until 2028. The Italian brings extensive experience, having previously led teams to championship titles in France and Italy. At the international level, he served as an assistant coach for the Italian national team, contributing to their victory at the 2021 European Championship and medals at the 2018 and 2022 World Championships. Earlier this year, he led Sweden to a victory in the Golden League. "I am very proud to become head coach in Germany," Bregoli stated. "This is a fantastic opportunity to work with great athletes." Bregoli succeeds Alexander Waibl, who temporarily led the team after Vital Heynen's departure.
