Tomas Fornal after the loss to ZAKSA: I will think about the match with Levski on... Wednesday

In the derby of the 11th round of PlusLiga, Jastrzębski Węgiel failed to win a single point for the standings. The Polish champions had to acknowledge the superiority of ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle, with Marcelo Mendez's proteges' game not impressing.

"I'm not going to enchant anyone here and say that the match from our side was at a high level. Except for the first set, we had problems," the 'hawks'' outside hitter shared with Volleyball Zone.

Although the match in Kędzierzyn-Koźle started in favor of Jastrzębski Węgiel, in the subsequent sets the hosts significantly raised their level of play and decided the entire match in their favor. ZAKSA dominated mainly in the fourth set, and the visitors failed to find a way to play hard.

"Congratulations to ZAKSA. This is not yet a playoff, these are not decisive matches. We know what we need to work on, because there are definitely several elements for improvement," Tomasz Fornal honestly admitted.

Besides problems in attack, there were also many, at times even strange, misunderstandings in the defense of Marcelo Mendez's proteges.

"Sometimes not everything works out and we have to accept it. We won't always play in defense as in the match against Projekt Warszawa. Then you have to add other elements," summarized the leader of Jastrzębski Węgiel.

The new week for the Polish champions marks the beginning of the fight in the Champions League.

"Calm down, we will rest on Sunday and from Monday we return to training. On Wednesday we start the battle in the Champions League, there's no point in dwelling on the loss," said the Olympic vice-champion.

Jastrzębski Węgiel does not have extremely demanding opponents in the Champions League group stage. The ambitions of the Polish champions are consistently high, but nevertheless, they do not focus on the opponent on the European stage.

"I'm not thinking about the Champions League yet. I will probably only start thinking about it on Wednesday," Tomasz Fornal admitted with a smile. The 'hawks'' first match will be against Levski Sofia.
