CEV has decided to change the 2025 edition of the Champions League, which will no longer conclude with Super Finals (this year won by two Italian teams - Conegliano for women and Trento for men), but will return to the Final Four format. The decision was made during the CEV Board of Directors meeting, which gathered last weekend in Jūrmala, Latvia.
The Final Four format was abandoned in 2020. After four editions of the Super Final involving the two best teams for men and women, CEV decided to return to organizing the Final Four with the participation of the four best teams of the season.
In the next edition of the Champions League, the Women's Final Four will be played on May 3-4, and the Men's Final will be on May 17-18. The difference from previous final stages is that CEV does not intend to play matches for 3rd place.
The Champions League group stage will feature 20 teams, divided into five groups of four teams each. Each team will play three matches at home and three away. Only the group winners will qualify directly for the quarterfinals. The five second-placed teams and the best third-placed team will advance to the playoffs. The playoff winners will complete the group of eight quarterfinal teams. The remaining third-placed teams in their respective groups will qualify for the CEV Cup quarterfinals. The four quarterfinal winners will advance to the CEV Champions League Final Four.
The women's group stage will start from November 5 to 7 and will finish on January 22, while for men it will be from November 12 to 14 and will conclude on January 29.
