Maritsa confirmed the split with Ershimsek

Bulgarian women's champion Maritsa (Plovdiv) officially announced its parting with head coach Ahmetcan Erşimşek after the end of the season, thus confirming the information thatvolleweek.bgannounced two days ago that serious changes at the coaching level are expected in the club. Already on the day of winning the 12th title, it became clear that the "yellow-blues" were on the verge of a coaching change, and although there was no official statement at the time, the indications were clear. The direction the club is looking towards is a foreign specialist, with the most likely scenario remaining the appointment of an Italian coach – a move aimed at aligning with leading European models and achieving a more significant presence in international tournaments.
At that time, the information also indicated that the parting with Erşimşek was practically decided, and his future would most likely be linked to Turkey, where he is expected to take over Kuzeyboru.
Today, Maritsa made this development official. The Turkish specialist is leaving after an extremely successful period at the helm of the team. Within two seasons, he led the Plovdiv team to two titles in the National Volleyball League Demax and two triumphs in the Bulgarian Cup, securing two consecutive "golden doubles".
Beyond domestic dominance, Erşimşek also leaves a historical mark in Europe. Under his leadership, Maritsa for the first time advanced from the Champions League group stage, after finishing third in its pool, which secured participation in the quarterfinals of the CEV Cup tournament.
The club thanked the coach for his work and wished him success in the future.
The parting seems a logical step in the context of the new stage Maritsa is aiming for – building upon domestic achievements and making a more significant breakthrough on the European scene. Clarity regarding the name of his successor is expected in the coming days.
