The champion Maritsa (Plovdiv) came a step closer to a new golden double in the National Volleyball League Demax, after recording a second decisive victory in the final series. The Plovdiv team prevailed over Levski (Sofia) with a 3:0 (25:16, 25:16, 25:22) away win and now lead the series 2:0, which is decided in three wins out of a maximum of five matches.
Right from the start of the match, the 'yellow-blues' set their tempo, maintained the initiative, and held a stable lead. A key moment in the first set was the series of four consecutive points after 12:10, with which Maritsa pulled away to 16:10. Until the end of the set, the team played confidently and closed it at 25:16 after a successful block by Boryana Angelova.
In the second set, Ahmetcan Erşimşek's team continued their aggressive play, making an impressive serving run by Borislava Saykova to make it 9:1. The lead quickly grew to 15:5, and without serious resistance, the champions doubled their advantage after another 25:16.
The third set offered more intrigue. The game was evenly matched until 9:9, when Maritsa's block started to pay off and the team made a run to 14:9. However, Levski reacted and restored equality at 18:18. This necessitated a timeout by Erşimşek, after which the Plovdiv team regained control with five consecutive points for 23:18 and ultimately closed the match at 25:22 after an attack out of Vanessa Agbortabi's block.
The most effective scorer for the winners was Iva Dudova with 18 points, Borislava Saykova added 16, and Vanessa Agbortabi contributed 12 points. For Levski, captain Slavina Koleva finished with the most points
– 11.
With this success, Maritsa gained the opportunity to conclude the final series in front of their home crowd. The third match is scheduled for April 27 at 18:30 in the 'Stroitel' hall in Plovdiv.
