Poland with a number of absentees before the match with Bulgaria in the Women's VNL

The Polish women's national team will begin its participation in the League of Nations with significant personnel changes. Head coach Stefano Lavarini announced the extended squad for the season, but it lacks several key figures from recent years.
The most significant absence is that of captain Agnieszka Korneluk, who not only ended her career in the national team but also completely retired from active sports. Olivia Różański and Weronika Centka-Tietianiec are also out of the squad, and Aleksandra Gryka will not be available due to injury.
Among those not called up are also Julia Nowicka, Marlena Kowalewska, Zuzanna Górecka, and Rozalia Moszyńska, as well as Martyna Borowczak. At the same time, Nadia Szyda and Wiktoria Szewczyk will join later due to commitments with maturity exams, and Gryka's condition will be monitored further.
Some of the absences have already received specific explanations from head coach Stefano Lavarini. According to him, Marlena Kowalewska made the decision to withdraw herself, while Julia Nowicka and Joana Lelenkiewicz do not wish to participate in the national team this season. The same applies to Olivia Różański, who also declined the call-up. Dominika Pierzchała is out of the squad due to injury, and Weronika Centka-Tietianiec has informed the coaching staff that she will not play for health reasons.

The Polish women's national team will participate in the League of Nations with this squad, as the tournament is part of the preparation for the European Championship. Within the competition, the "white-and-reds" will also face Bulgaria on June 17 in Bangkok during the second week of VNL. Bulgaria played Poland last year in the VNL during the third week in the Japanese city of Chiba and lost 0:3.
