The three-time Olympic champion Jose Roberto Guimaraes - Zé Roberto is leaving the Turkish THY, media in our southern neighbor are reporting. The coach has resigned and did not lead the team in the match against Nilüfer, won by THY with 3:0 (25:17, 25:19, 25:20) in the fourth round of the women's championship.

According to the Brazilian portal Web Vôlei, Guimaraes will likely return to his homeland this week. Istanbul's THY has not yet published official statements regarding the situation, neither on its website nor on social media.

Neriman Ozsoy, born in Razgrad and one of the team's key players, was also left out of the squad for the match against Nilüfer. According to the local press, the departure of the volleyball player from the team should also be officially announced within the week.

Since arriving in Istanbul for his second season at THY, Zé Roberto has had to deal with relational problems with part of the team. The first 'stumble', according to the local press, was related to the choice of captain.

The 36-year-old Ozsoy was expected to receive the armband, but THY had already announced central defender Büşra Cansu as the new captain even before Zé Roberto's official presentation in Turkey.

Even photos of Büşra with the captain's armband were circulated. The coach had to intervene after he arrived, as the player of Bulgarian origin, Ozsoy, posted a photo from a meeting with Zé Roberto on social media.

Ultimately, on the principle of 'two quarrel, a third wins', the role of captain was taken over by setter Roberta Ratzke. With three wins and one loss, suffered against favorite Fenerbahçe in their debut, THY is currently fourth in the table with nine points.
