The Besiktas-Bahcelievler match from the Sultanlar Ligi, which was played yesterday (won by the visiting team with a score of 3-1), was interrupted for 40 minutes due to incidents and fights that broke out among the spectators in the stands.
In this regard, Besiktas published a long statement on social media, explaining what happened and leveling accusations against the mayor of Bahcelievler and his security.
"There is no place for harassment, arrogance, and swearing in the halls!
We strongly condemn the aggressive and unsportsmanlike conduct of the Mayor of Bahcelievler and his bodyguards, who arrived in the hall during the second set of the match between the Besiktas women's volleyball team and the Bahcelievler Municipality women's volleyball team.
We condemn the Mayor of Bahcelievler and his security, who arrogantly asked why he was not met at the entrance to the stands upon entering the hall, and then inflamed the atmosphere with their rude behavior towards our managers, with their provocative attitude and threatening demeanor and curses, causing injuries to our managers after the intervention of his security.
Unfortunately, with their rude behavior in an environment where women and children were present as spectators, they deviated from sports ethics and morals. Due to the chaos created, the match was interrupted for about 40 minutes. There is no place for swearing, harassment, and insults on sports fields.
We would like to inform the public that we will file a complaint with the Turkish Volleyball Federation regarding the assault," the statement concludes.
