Laurent Tillie is rumored to be the coach of Japan.

Former France men's national team coach Laurent Tillie is rumored to be the new head coach of the Japan team. The "Samurai" were previously led by Tillie's teammate from the French national team, Philippe Blain, who left the position after the Paris Olympics. The official decision is expected next week, but in the Land of the Rising Sun, they are almost certain that Tillie will take over the helm of the Japanese team, which lost to Italy 3-2 in the quarterfinals in Paris. Experts also emphasize the difference in their coaching methods – Blain focuses on precision, while Tillie prioritizes freedom.
Laurent Tillie has a rich coaching resume, with his greatest achievements being:
- Gold Medal, 2020 Olympics (Tokyo)

- Gold Medal, 2017 FIVB World League (predecessor to VNL)

- Gold Medal, 2015 FIVB World League (predecessor to VNL)

- Silver Medal, 2018 FIVB Nations League (formerly World League)

- Bronze Medal, 2021 FIVB Nations League (formerly World League)

- Bronze Medal, 2016 FIVB World League (predecessor to VNL)
