The "Ngapi" effect

In less than a month, after two-time Olympic champion Earvin Ngapeth joined his hometown team Poitiers, talk of the "Ngapeth effect" began. French media took the trouble to summarize some of the benefits of this "effect," which even the most prominent global PRs would envy:

Most French media dedicated at least one article to the arrival of the double Olympic champion in Poitiers.

In 48 hours, sales of Poitiers club jerseys reached the equivalent of those bought in two full years before Ngapeth's arrival.

Seats in the city's arena are pre-filled to capacity, including for the Poitiers - Narbonne match, which took place last weekend, as well as for the upcoming clash between Chaumont and Poitiers.

Earvin Ngapeth is invited to appear on numerous French talk shows.

beIN Sports, which broadcast Friday's MSL match, changed its programming schedule to allocate enough time to the return of the French volleyball star.

The Poitiers club has pre-booked Arena Futuroscope to host Ngapeth's match against Tours in December, which may be the last for the volleyball player in his hometown club's jersey. A concert is also scheduled after the match!

The Poitiers team attracted several new partners thanks to the presence of the versatile player.

2300 spectators present for a friendly match in the city, this is a record in France for an off-season club match.

2422 spectators attended the first MSL home match in the arena, an increase of 700 compared to last year's record of 1694 people.

Truly impressive figures and facts! It remains to be seen how this can have a multiplying effect on our volleyball reality.
