Danail Dimov and Hypo Tirol won the Austrian Supercup

The HYPO TIROL volleyball team once again proved its dominance in Austrian volleyball. The reigning champions secured the Austrian Volleyball Supercup for the second consecutive time on Saturday evening in the fully packed JUFA Arena Bleiburg. In an exciting match, the Innsbruck team won 3-1 (25:23, 21:25, 25:13, 25:18) against the Austrian Cup winner SK Zadruga Aich/Dob. Just a few hours earlier, the TI-axess-volley women also defended their Supercup title with a 3-0 victory over ATSC Kelag Wildcats Klagenfurt.

In the first set, Aich/Dob led the score until 11:12, but then HYPO TIROL took the lead. The hosts tried to catch up, but the Tyroleans played too steadily and closed the set 25:23. Aich/Dob showed great improvement in the second set, with the game going evenly, but at the end of the set, the hosts scored three consecutive points and won the set 25:21.

From the third set until the end of the match, Aich/Dob lost momentum. HYPO TIROL made the most of this and totally dominated the third set, which they won with a decisive score of 25:13. The fourth set started evenly, but the champions continued to push with their serve and turned the game around after falling behind. After 110 minutes of play, Arthur Nat used the first match point and secured the victory for HYPO TIROL in the Supercup.

The top scorer for HYPO TIROL in the match was Kyle Hobus with 21 points, followed by Niklas Kronthaler (17) and Arthur Nat (12). New signing Carlos Charles Santana impressed for Aich/Dob with 21 points.

Niklas Kronthaler, captain of HYPO TIROL, was happy after the match: "We wanted to win the Supercup, and we did. It was a good test for the Champions League match against Mladost Zagreb on Wednesday."

Sports director Stefan Hrtyansky also emphasized the importance of the success: "With more pressure on the serve, our game got better. Now we are focusing on the Champions League."
Bulgarian opposite Danail Dimov did not play.
