USA Volleyball announced that John Speraw will be president and CEO, effective October 1. Before becoming the eighth CEO of USA Volleyball, Speraw was the senior coach of the US national team since 2013 and has been part of the team's leadership for almost two decades. Under his leadership, the Americans won bronze medals at the Paris Olympics this summer.

“My journey with USA Volleyball began in 1997 as an assistant coach for the World University Games team,” says Speraw. “Reflecting on the teams, players, staff, and experiences over the years, I am filled with immense excitement for this unforgettable journey. Now, to be entrusted with the opportunity to lead USA Volleyball as President and CEO is both a great honor and responsibility, for which I am truly grateful to the association's Board of Directors. I am ready to serve.”
Under his leadership and strategic vision for the evolution of the sport, USA Volleyball will prepare for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles and the 2032 Games in Brisbane, Australia.
Speraw is also the founder of First Point Volleyball, an organization dedicated to supporting the development of boys' and men's volleyball nationwide.
Dave Gentile, Chairman of the USA Volleyball Board of Directors, expressed gratitude to everyone involved in the six-month search process for a new CEO.

In addition to coaching the US men's national team, Speraw has been the head men's volleyball coach at UCLA since 2012, leading them to two NCAA Division I-II championships in 2023 and 2024.
Before UCLA, Speraw coached the men's volleyball team at another California university, UC Irvine (2002-12), and led them to three NCAA championship titles in six years.
He played as a middle blocker for UCLA from 1992-95 and was a member of two national championship teams. He graduated from UCLA in 1995 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics.
Speraw and his wife, Michelle, live in Southern California with their two children, Hayley and Brooklyn.
