Maritsa (Plovdiv) convincingly started the defense of their title after defeating CSKA 3:0 (25:18, 25:22, 25:16) in the first semi-final playoff match in the women's "Demax+" league. Thus, the team from Plovdiv took a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three series.
The hosts took control from the very beginning. In the first set, an early lead of 15:10 secured them comfort for the final 25:18. In the second set, Maritsa again dictated the tempo and after a stable lead, maintained the initiative for 25:22.
The start of the third set proved decisive when the "yellow-blues" took an 11:4 lead and did not allow any fluctuations until the end, closing out the match at 25:16. The most productive player for the winners was Iva Dudova with 14 points, and Vanessa Agbortabi added 13.
