Milon took a decisive step towards the finals in the Greek Volleyball League after defeating PAOK 3:1 (22:25, 25:23, 25:23, 25:17) in the third semi-final match and taking a 2-1 lead in the series.
The match started excellently for PAOK, who snatched the first set after a strong run at the end – 22:25. In the next two sets, however, Milon showed greater stability in key moments. The second set was decided after a high-pressure serve and an ace by Schouten for 25:23, and in the third, the hosts made an impressive comeback from 11:15 to 25:23.
In the fourth set, PAOK visibly declined physically and mentally, which allowed Milon to convincingly close out the match – 25:17.
Canadian opposite hitter Casey Schouten was outstanding with 30 points, and was deservedly chosen as MVP, just hours after becoming a father.
Bulgarian middle blocker Nikolay Kolev finished with 8 points (+5 efficiency, 1 ace, 4 blocks, 43% attack efficiency) and made key contributions in the first two sets, including an important block at the end of the opening set.
PAOK remains with their back against the wall and must secure a win in the next match to keep their final hopes alive.
