Preslav Petkov is returning today, begins training with Levski

National player Preslav Petkov returns to Bulgaria today after a strong season with the newcomer to the Italian Serie A2 – Romeo Sorrento. The middle blocker, who played on loan from Levski, made a solid impression in one of the most competitive second-tier championships in Europe.

The statistical indicators outline a clear profile of Petkov as a classic middle blocker. His strongest weapon is blocking – 64 points and an average of 0.65 per set, which makes him a reliable factor at the net. In attack, his efficiency of 52.4% is at a very good level for this position and demonstrates high realization in quick combinations. His serve remains more of a supporting element in his game, and limited participation in reception is entirely expected for a middle blocker.
During the season, Petkov was part of Sorrento's main squad, which managed to maintain its place in Serie A2 for a second consecutive season. The Bulgarian middle blocker established himself as an important part of the rotation, contributing with both blocks and effective attacks in the middle. In the last match of the season, Petkov finished with 8 points (5 blocks!!!, 1 ace), once again showing stability in his main elements.
Upon returning home, it is entirely possible for Preslav Petkov to continue his preparation for the national team with Levski. His teammate Iliya Petkov, who returned from Italy after a season in Grottazzolina, is already training at the Sofia club. This would provide a good training environment and a familiar setting on the eve of the national summer.
It is not excluded that the middle blocker might continue his career again in Sorrento, where he left a good impression. The Italian club already has one season at this level behind it, and the trust in Petkov and his development could be key factors for his potential stay in the next campaign.
