Boyan Yordanov one step away from the elite in Greece after epic victory of Aris

Former Bulgarian international Boyan Yordanov is just one win away from returning to the elite of Greek volleyball. His Aris dramatically defeated Heraklis 3:1 (23:25, 30:28, 25:17, 39:37) in the first match of the Pre League final playoff, taking a 1-0 lead in the series.
The match at the "Mikra" hall turned into a real spectacle, lasting nearly two and a half hours, with Yordanov being among the key figures in the hosts' comeback.
Aris faced serious difficulties in the first two sets, as Heraklis dictated the rhythm with aggressive serving and stable attacking play. The visitors took the first set 23:25 and were close to doubling their lead in the second, going up 16:21.
It was here that Boyan Yordanov's experience made the difference. The Bulgarian opposite hitter scored three consecutive points after the 20th, bringing Aris back into the game and leveling at 24:24. By the end, the hosts showed stronger nerves and reached 30:28, which proved to be the turning point of the match.
In the third set, Aris was playing with renewed confidence. The team put pressure with blocks and organized defense, quickly opening a gap and closing the set without hesitation at 25:17.
Yordanov continued to be a factor in attack, and his stability in key rallies completely tipped the scales in favor of the hosts.

The fourth set offered the culmination of the clash. Heraklis found its rhythm again and reached set point at 22:24, but Aris survived. An incredibly long series of rallies followed, in which both teams demonstrated character, stable reception, and many saved balls in defense. Ultimately, the hosts triumphed 39:37 after a successful counterattack, thereby closing the match and getting as close as possible to promotion.

With this win, Aris took a 1-0 lead in the final series. The second match is on April 4th at the "Katsaneio" hall, where Heraklis will seek to equalize.
For Boyan Yordanov, this is an opportunity to add another significant achievement to his career – leading Aris to the Volley League. If his team wins the next match, the Bulgarian opposite hitter will return to the elite of Greek volleyball in a key role.
