Silver medalist from the European Youth Championship with Bulgaria, Borislav Georgiev, solidified his strong season in Qatar by winning the championship title with the Al Arabi team. This is Georgiev's fifth gold medal since the beginning of his career as a setter in the local championship.

The outcome for the gold medals was worthy of a theatrical drama script. Two rounds before the end of the championship, Al Wakra eliminated Al Rayyan from the title race, defeating them 3:1. With this success, Al Wakra took the lead in the standings and, one round before the end, had a two-point advantage over Borislav Georgiev's team – Al Arabi.
Thus, the champion was to be determined in the final round, where Al Arabi did their part by defeating Al Rayyan 3:1 and left the culmination in the hands of the last match of the championship.

Georgiev and his teammates awaited the final result of the last match to find out what precious metal their medals would be.
In the decisive match, Police convincingly defeated Al Wakra 3:0 (25:17, 25:17, 25:19) and thus sealed the championship title for Al Arabi.

"This title is more special... this was one of the toughest seasons in my career, full of problems and injuries. Perhaps that's why it's so sweet. I am grateful to my family and God for protecting me in these final matches...", the Bulgarian wrote on his Facebook wall.
Georgiev's season continues with a busy schedule – semi-final and final for the Qatar Cup in early April, followed by participation in the Emir's Cup and commitments with the national team.
