French star Earvin Ngapeth is no longer part of Fenerbahçe Medicana's squad, after the Turkish club officially announced the termination of his contract by mutual agreement. The decision comes just days before the start of the playoffs for 5th-8th place in the championship. Before that, matches for the Turkish Cup are upcoming, where Fenerbahçe will face Georgi Tatarov's Galatasaray.
'Our contract with player Earvin Ngapeth has been terminated by mutual agreement,' reads the club's concise official statement.
Signed with Tours until 2028
Already on February 17, 2026, Tours Volley announced that Ngapeth had signed a contract for the next two seasons (2026–2028). Thus, the outside hitter will return to the club where he began his professional career.
The transfer was described as one of the most significant moves by the French champion, who secured the services of one of the most recognizable figures in world volleyball.
Indonesia as the next step?
The departure from Fenerbahçe at this stage of the season raises the question of where Ngapeth will continue until the summer. One of the real options is Indonesia, where the playoffs in the local league are upcoming. A similar move has already been made by Georg Grozer, and Ngapeth himself has experience there with the Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi team in the 2023/24 season, having left another Turkish club - Halkbank.
Possible alliance with Martin Atanasov
An interesting detail is that Bulgarian national player Martin Atanasov currently plays for Jakarta Bhayangkara Presisi. Thus, it is not excluded that Ngapeth might join this team until the end of the season, which would lead to a strong receiving tandem.
However, there is no official confirmation yet regarding the French star's next club.
