The President of the Bulgarian Volleyball Federation, Lyubomir Ganev, held a working meeting with Anna Janiszewska Frączek, Chargé d'affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Sofia. The native volleyball headquarters announced the meeting. The main topic of discussion was Bulgaria's preparation for the 2026 Men's European Volleyball Championship, which will be co-hosted by four countries – Bulgaria, Italy, Finland, and Romania.
One of the highlights of the discussion was the enormous interest in the match between Bulgaria and Poland. The encounter, which has been anticipated as one of the most attractive group stage matches since the program's announcement, sold out in just one day after tickets went on sale. This also prompted discussions about the possibility of securing an additional 100 to 200 tickets to allow more fans to attend the eagerly awaited clash.
During the meeting, Lyubomir Ganev emphasized the importance of support from the stands for the Bulgarian national team.
'The European Championship, which Bulgaria has the honor to co-organize, is a unique chance for joy and sports emotions for all of us. Our national team deserves to be supported by its fans – not only because of the efforts invested but also because of the strength that the audience inspires in the players,' stated the federation president.
For her part, Anna Janiszewska Frączek noted that Bulgaria is traditionally among the preferred destinations for Polish volleyball enthusiasts. She expressed confidence that this time too, many fans from Poland will arrive in Sofia to support the reigning European champions. Traditionally, a significant Polish presence is expected in the Bulgarian capital several days before the start of the championship.
Five months remain until the start of the European Championship, and interest in tickets for the matches continues to grow. Expectations are that Sofia will once again become one of the hottest volleyball stages on the continent, with fans having the opportunity to watch live some of Europe's strongest national teams.
For Bulgarian fans, this is a chance to support the national team in a major forum on home soil – something that always brings a special atmosphere for both players and the audience. Therefore, organizers advise those wishing to attend the matches to secure tickets as early as possible, before seats for the most anticipated games sell out.
