Italian Megabox Vallefoglia qualified for the Challenge Cup final after defeating Hungarian Kaposvár 3:0(25:19,25:16,25:21) and sealed their spot in the battle for the trophy. In the cup final, the team will face Panathinaikos (Athens), who eliminated Panionios.
The match was under the control of the hosts, who showed greater class in the key moments of each set. President Angeli's team demonstrated collective strength, with four players finishing with double-digit scores – Omoruyi with 16 points, while Bici, Ungureanu, and Tokbuom added 12 each. Setter Bartolucci confidently orchestrated the play.
Kaposvár fought until the end and impressed with stable defense and dangerous attacks from Fedyk (18 points) and Rabelo (13 points), but this was not enough against the more organized Italian squad.
In the first set, the even play was maintained until 19:17, after which a run by Omoruyi and Tokbuom tipped the scales – 25:19. In the second, Megabox imposed stronger serving and quickly opened a lead, closing it at 25:16. The third set was the most dramatic, with the Hungarians leading 11:8, but the hosts reacted with a stable block and effective counter-attacks for the final 25:21.
Bulgarians Mikaela Stoyanova and Tsveti Mitkova were part of the Vallefoglia squad on their way to the final, which will be played on March 11 in Pesaro, with the return leg a week later in Athens.
