The future of Bulgarian international Boris Nachev is gradually becoming clearer. According to information fromvolleyweek.bgthe middle blocker has the opportunity to continue in Padua next season, thanks to his contract, which is a 1+1 year loan scheme.
The Bulgarian club claims that the option for a second year is active, and this is what paves the way for him to stay in Serie A1.
At the same time, sources close to the player specify that no final decision has been made regarding next season yet. The player himself has not yet made an official statement on the matter, with final clarity expected after the end of the regular season.
From summer problems to silver in Manila
Nachev missed the first week of the Nations League due to an injury sustained in the summer. Subsequently, he participated in some of the national team's matches, including the World Championship in Manila, where Bulgaria won silver medals.

After his transfer to Italy, however, the middle blocker was again plagued by problems " this time in his shoulder. The injury kept him out of play for an extended period and delayed his adaptation to the SuperLega.
The return " in the last two rounds
Nachev appeared for a longer time in the last two rounds of the regular season, staying on the court for the entire match in the penultimate round of the regular season during Padua's prestigious away victory against Cuneo with 3:2 (21:25, 25:17, 22:25, 25:21, 16:14). Jacopo Cuttini's team showed character, twice came back from a deficit in sets, and snatched the tie-break after a fierce battle.

The Bulgarian's full match in this game was a clear sign that his physical problems are now under control.
Boris Nachev Statistics " Serie A1 (Regular Season 2025/2026)
| Matches | Sets | Total points | Attacks | Points from attack | Attack percentage | Block | Ace |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 6 | 13 | 11 | 16 | 7 | 44% | 3 | 1 |
The numbers clearly show the impact of the injury on his season as participating in 6 matches and 13 sets is a limited volume for a middle blocker in Serie A1. At the same time, his attacking efficiency is fully competitive as 7 points from 16 attempts or 44%, which is a solid percentage for a player returning after a long recovery.
The three blocks in a relatively small playing volume suggest that his primary skill remains at a good level, and the single ace completes the positive picture. More importantly, in the decisive match against Cuneo, he physically endured an entire match in an intense five-set clash.
After a difficult start in Italy, marked by a shoulder injury, Nachev now has the opportunity for full preparation and a real battle for a spot in the starting lineup. If he maintains his attacking efficiency and improves his blocking presence, his potential second season in Serie A1 could prove to be the real breakthrough for one of the most promising Bulgarian middle blockers.
Whether Nachev will stay in Padua or prefer a different career path, we will find out soon.
