Bulgarian internationals Georgi Tatarov and Iliya Petkov were among the key figures for Yuasa Battery (Grottazzolina), despite the home loss to Valsa Group (Modena) with a score of 0:3 (26:28, 18:25, 20:25) in their last home match of the season in the Italian SuperLega.
Tatarov led the team
Georgi Tatarov once again demonstrated excellent form and finished as the top scorer for his team with 15 points and a +9 efficiency rating. The Bulgarian outside hitter registered a 70% success rate in attack, added 1 block, and had 44% positive reception.
His performance in the first set was particularly impressive, with Tatarov being instrumental in the comeback from 20:23 to 24:23, putting the hosts on the verge of winning it. Ultimately, Modena dramatically snatched the set 28:26, which largely determined the outcome of the match.
Petkov back in action
After nearly a month off the court, Iliya Petkov returned as a starter and stayed on the field for the entire match. The middle blocker finished with 4 points and a -4 efficiency rating, scoring 2 blocks and achieving 40% attack efficiency. Visibly still not in optimal physical condition, Petkov nonetheless provided stability at the net and showed that he is gradually regaining his rhythm.
