The carnival took over Vero Volley - Marti Atanasov and Jasmin Velichkov in interesting roles

The carnival took over Vero Volley: Freddy Mercury, Uncle Sam, and a little Brazilian samba

The Italian giant Vero Volley got into the rhythm of the carnival with mood, imagination, and a serious dose of self-irony. On its official Facebook page, the club published a series of collages under the mottoA Carnevale ogni scherzo vale– or in a loose translation: "At carnival, every joke is allowed." And this time, the jokes are more than ingenious.

Martin Atanasov as Freddy Mercury

Bulgarian national Martin Atanasov is transformed as the legendary Freddy Mercury. The yellow jacket, the index finger raised to the sky, and the stage pose directly reference Queen's iconic concerts. The difference is that the blue jersey of Vero Volley is visible beneath the rock icon.

The message is clear – a little rock energy in the midst of the season is never superfluous. Atanasov, who this season carries significant weight in reception and attack, evidently is not afraid to step into the role of a showman. The carnival allows such metamorphoses, and the club skillfully uses the moment to bring the players closer to the fans.

"I Want You" – Jasmin Velichkov in the role of Uncle Sam

Even more curious is the interpretation of the famous "I Want You" poster. Jasmin Velichkov steps into the role of Uncle Sam, who points directly at the viewer with the typical pose from the American propaganda illustration. Historically, the poster was used to recruit soldiers into the U.S. Army during World War I, and subsequently became a universal symbol for campaigns of all kinds.

In this case, the inscription reads "JOIN NOW", and behind it is the logo of Vero Volley. The reference is transparent – the club invites fans, followers, and future supporters to become part of the "family". The humor is subtle, yet strategically sound from a marketing perspective.

When volleyball smiles

In the middle of a long and busy season, such an initiative brings a breath of fresh air. It shows the other side of professional sports – the one where there is room for banter, cultural references, and a little theater.

And if we are to paraphrase the post itself – at carnival, every joke is allowed. Even if you see Martin Atanasov as a rock legend, and Jasmin Velichkov – as Uncle Sam, who invites you to join the Vero Volley cause.
