The Women's Volleyball World Championship next year will be held in the Asian country between August 22 and September 7.
FIVB, at a meeting in the Swiss city of Lausanne, decided that Thailand will be the next host of the global volleyball championship for women, provided that the local government provides guarantees, according to two of the most reputable volleyball websites in Italy –volleyball.itandivolleymagazine.it.
The hosting agreement was signed today by the president of the world federation, Dr. Ary Graça, and the head of the Thai Volleyball Association, Somporn Chaibangyang, during the Congress of Asian Volleyball Confederations, which concludes today in Thailand's capital, Bangkok. We remind you that next year's World Championship will for the first time feature a record 32 countries participating in both the women's and men's tournaments.
The contract formalities are to be ironed out next month, while the new cabinet is being formed in the Asian country.
In this way, the World Volleyball Championships for both sexes will for the first time, and in parallel, be held on Asian soil – the Philippines was chosen to host the Men's World Championship.
