Italy's volleyball champion Sir Safety Susa Vim Perugia released an official statement regarding the condition of middle blocker Agustin Loser, who sustained an injury during the away match in the Czech Republic in the penultimate game of the Champions League group stage.
The Argentinian underwent an MRI scan on his right knee late yesterday afternoon, after returning from the match against Prague. The injury occurred during the second set of the game.
The club's medical staff, through Dr. Giuseppe Sabatino, announced that the examination revealed a lesion on the right meniscus.
Surgical intervention is pending.
According to official information, Loser will most likely undergo surgery on Monday, with the intervention to be performed by Prof. Auro Caraffa and Dr. Marco Pellegrino.
This means that Perugia will have to cope without one of its key players in the middle of the net in the coming weeks, at a time when the season is entering its crucial phase.
A heavy blow for Perugia.
Agustin Loser is a key figure in Perugia's system, especially in blocking and middle play. His absence will pose a serious challenge for the squad, which already had personnel problems in recent matches.
The club is expected to provide additional information in the coming days regarding the recovery period and the potential return of the Argentinian to the court.
