Vladimir Nikolov tovolleyweek.bg: "We haven't discussed my participation in politics"

The newspaper "Maritsa" reported that volleyball legend Vladimir Nikolov had received an invitation to participate in a future political project around President Rumen Radev and had principally accepted it. Following the publication,volleyweek.bgcontacted Nikolov for a statement.

The former captain of the national team denied discussing his participation in politics.

"With Mr. Radev, whom I know and respect, we have not talked about my participation in politics," Vladimir Nikolov toldvolleyweek.bg.

He clarified that his conversation with the president after the New Year was focused on sports topics.

"In a conversation with him shortly after the New Year, we discussed sports topics, and volleyball in particular. If someone wants my expertise in this field, they might get it," Nikolov added.

Vladimir Nikolov's presence in Rumen Radev's Initiative Committee during the second presidential term was publicly known and at the time also sparked comments about a possible more active public role for the volleyball legend.

Currently, however, the only official position on the matter is the one expressed by Nikolov himself tovolleyweek.bg- that no talks about participation in politics have been held, and the topics discussed were related to sports and volleyball.
