Dimitar Dimitrov one point away from the 600 mark in Korea – Busan entered the top three

Bulgarian international Dimitar Dimitrov continues to solidify his status as one of the most consistent scorers in the V-League of the Republic of Korea. The opposite hitter for OK Financial Group Okman (Busan) is just one point shy of the psychological barrier of 600 points for the season – an achievement that places him among the elite of the championship.

In their last match, Busan defeated KEPCO at home 3:1 (16:25, 25:19, 25:21, 25:21) and recorded their 15th victory of the campaign.

Match Progression

The match started difficultly for the hosts. KEPCO dictated the pace in the first set and won it convincingly. From then on, however, Busan stabilized their reception, reduced service errors, and found a better rhythm in attack, controlling the key rallies in the subsequent three sets.

Dimitrov was a key figure in the finishing phase of attacks – especially towards the end of the third and fourth sets, when his team closed out the match without unnecessary drama.

Dimitrov's Individual Statistics

  • 23 points

  • 2 aces

  • 2 blocks

  • 45% attack efficiency

With these stats, the Bulgarian now has 599 points since the start of the season and ranks 4th in the V-League scoring list. Ahead of him are Sharone Vernon-Evans (694), Andres Villena (636), and Rafael Araujo (634), which highlights the level of competition.

The 600-point mark in the Korean championship is traditionally a marker of consistency, physical endurance, and a leadership role in the team's offensive model. For Dimitrov, this is not just a statistic, but a reflection of the trust he receives as a primary attacking option.

Standings

Position Team Points Wins Losses
1 Hyundai Capital 54 17 10
2 Korean Air 53 18 9
3 OK Savings Bank 45 15 13
4 KEPCO 43 15 13

Busan is now third with 45 points and benefited from the direct win against KEPCO. The gap with the leaders remains significant, but the battle for a place in the playoff zone is wide open. The 15-13 balance shows that the team is still seeking consistency, but Dimitrov's offensive prowess is a key asset in the final phase of the regular season.

The next test

On February 15, OK Savings Bank hosts WooriCard in a match from the next round of the V-League. This will be a direct clash against a team that boasts one of the league's top scorers G- Rafael Araujo, and it will also be a direct confrontation between the third and fourth in the scoring rankings, as the Brazilian has 634 points, and Dimitrov follows him closely with his 599, just one point away from the 600 mark.

All eyes will be on the Bulgarian opposite hitter. Only one successfully completed attack is needed for him to cross the 600-point mark G- a symbolic but significant moment in a season where Dimitrov establishes himself as a leading figure in the Korean championship.
