Belgian volleyball star Sam Deroo and his partner – former Bulgarian national player Dobriana Rabadzhieva, are expecting the birth of their first child. Something we have already announced.
The news is that the couple will become parents to a baby girl, and the happy news received new light after an Instagram post, which talks about the "birth of a daughter" as one of the biggest events Deroo looks forward to with a smile and hope.
"Onward to the playoffs with Loko Volleyball, to the birth of a daughter, to the summer with the Belgian Red Dragons and... to LA2028," reads the message from a Belgian journalist who visited the volleyball player.
The reaction of the Lokomotiv Novosibirsk club also hints at the joyful anticipation, with the team commenting with emotional words and hearts, linking Deroo to his future role as a father.
Light after a tough year
As we already wrote, 2025 became a real "rollercoaster of emotions" for Sam Deroo – from the toughest diagnosis to the brightest hope.
Shortly before learning the news of his illness, the Belgian national received the news that changed everything – he and Dobriana were expecting a child.
"I have so many things worth living for," says the captain of Belgium.
In an interview with Sportza, Deroo admits that it was the thought of future fatherhood that gave him strength during the difficult cycles of treatment:
"The best thing of all is that my girlfriend is expecting a child. This gives us a tremendous amount of positive energy."
The volleyball player also shares that Dobriana was constantly by his side during this period – traveling with him and supporting him during the therapies.
