Bulgaria recorded a second victory at the Men's U20 European Volleyball Championship in Greece and Serbia. Our team defeated the outsider Scotland with a 3:0 (25:13, 25:11, 25:20) win. After a decisive 2:0 lead, our ranks relaxed, which allowed the Scots to take a 4:1 lead in the third set, following our poor reception, forcing the staff to take their first timeout of the match. A tightening of ranks followed, and after 7:7, we took the lead. At 12:10, Moni Nikolov went to serve, and Gianlorenzo Blengini, who was standing nearby, gave him some instructions. The Bulgarians began to pull away in the score, and thanks to several good plays by our team's captain, we reached 22:16. The first match point came at 24:18, but we allowed them to score two points. Only on the third attempt did the victory become a reality, after an attack by Nikolay Ivanov.
The most effective player for our team was Kristian Titriyski with 10 points (2 aces, 1 block), Tomislav Rusev added 9 points (1 ace, 2 blocks). Captain Simeon Nikolov finished with 8 (3 aces, 1 block).
Bulgaria started with the following lineup: Simeon Nikolov, Jasmin Velichkov, Stiliyan Delibosov, Kristian Titriyski, Tomislav Rusev, Alexander Kandev, and libero Alexander Tsanev. During the match, we also saw Ognyan Hristov, Kristian Andreev, Kostadin Kozelov, and libero Konstantin Chipev in play.
Tomorrow, the Bulgarians will face the Czech Republic team at 12 PM Bulgarian time.
