Bulgaria lost their first match at the home Men's U17 World Championship, which is taking place in Sofia. Our boys lost to the Spanish team with a score of 1:3 (20:25, 25:21, 19:25, 20:25) after 96 minutes of play in the capital's 'Levski Sofia' hall.

For the Bulgarians, the most effective scorer was Aleksandar Dobrev with 16 points (1 block and 1 ace).

Dimitar Peychinov added 12 more points (2 blocks). For the winners, Rafael Tugores scored 21 points. Both teams scored 4 aces each, and ours had 2 more errors than their opponent (29 against 27).
Teodor Bogdanov, for whom this was also an official debut as a coach, opted for a starting lineup of: Nikola Velikov (captain), Evan Georgiev, Dimitar Dobrev, Aleksandar Dobrev, Nikolay Mihovski, Dimitar Peychinov, and libero Georgi Boychev.
