The management of Levski Sofia provided additional clarity regarding the coaching situation in the women's team in light of the departure of the previous head coach Arsov. The club specified that until the end of the current season, the team will be led by Denislav Dimitrov, and only then will discussions and selection of a new coach commence.
Denislav Dimitrov's appointment to lead the Levski Sofia women's team until the end of the season comes in a clear context and with a search for internal stability in the sport-technical process.
Dimitrov is not an accidental figure in the coaching staff. Born on December 16, 1991, he has accumulated significant international experience as an assistant coach in women's volleyball. From 2019 2023, he was part of the staff of the Bulgarian women's national team, and before and after that, he worked for clubs in Romania (CSM T govi e), Turkey (PTT Spor), France (Stade Fran ais Paris Saint-Cloud), and the USA, where he was an assistant coach for Grand Rapids Rise during the 2023/24 season.
Since the beginning of the 2024/25 season, Dimitrov has been an assistant coach precisely at Levski Sofia, which makes the management's decision to trust him in this transitional moment logical. The upcoming home game against champion Maritsa on Sunday will be his first official match as head coach of the women's team.
The main task for the young specialist will be to maintain the team's competitiveness and smoothly navigate the situation after Arsov's departure, without abrupt upheavals until the end of the campaign. The club has already clarified that the question of a permanent head coach will be considered after the end of the season, and a clearer vision for Levski Sofia's long-term strategy for the women's team is expected in the near future.
