Fenerbahçe Medicana officially announced its parting ways with head coach Slobodan Kovac, who had been performing this role since November 2024, while simultaneously continuing to be the coach of the Turkish men's national team. The decision was made by mutual agreement and, according to the club, in no way calls into question the respect for the professional qualities of the Serbian specialist and his contribution to Turkish volleyball.

Fenerbahçe's management emphasized that the stability and success of the national team remain a priority, and Kovac's achievements under the Turkish flag supersede any club rivalries. The club declared that it would continue to be among the biggest supporters of the coach in every match he leads the country's representative team.

Shortly thereafter, Fenerbahçe also announced the name of its new head coach – Taner Atik, an experienced Turkish coach with over 20 years in his coaching career, having worked in youth academies, national teams, and club formations in Europe and the Middle East. The club expressed its expectation that under his leadership, the team would enter a new stage of development, marked by stability and the fight for accolades in all tournaments.

The situation inevitably harks back to last year's events when the name of Radostin Stoychev also circulated around the Turkish men's national team. At that time, the Bulgarian specialist was seriously considered for the head coach position before the federation continued its collaboration with Slobodan Kovac. Today, Stoychev leads Halkbank (Ankara) – one of Fenerbahçe's main rivals in the Turkish championship, whose squad features the names of Matey Kaziyski and Tsvetan Sokolov.

Thus, the coaching change at Fenerbahçe once again intertwines the club and national contexts in Turkish volleyball, with off-court decisions inevitably coming under scrutiny as the season progresses.
