La Romeo Sorrento returned empty-handed from their away match against Gruppo Consoli Sferc Brescia, losing 0:3 (26:24, 25:14, 25:23) – a result that seems harsh but doesn't fully reflect what was shown, especially in the first and third sets.
Against one of the league leaders, the Sorrento team once again failed to earn points, with the series against the top teams (Pineto, Prata, and Brescia) concluding without any points. Expectations are now focused on the home match against Taranto.
In Brescia, Bulgarian international Preslav Petkov started as a middle blocker and scored 3 points, showing stable performances at various moments, particularly in the tense first set, which ended 26:24 for the hosts. At that point, Sorrento even reached a 24:24 tie after a block, but couldn't close out the set.
The second set was entirely dictated by Brescia, and in the third, the visitors once again showed character, coming close to a comeback, but the crucial points went in favor of the hosts.
"Romeo Sorrento's" next match is on January 18th at 7:00 PM against Prisma Taranto, when a stronger role is expected for Preslav Petkov in search of the much-needed reaction.
