CSKA opened 2026 with a clean victory and the debut of Spas Bayrev

CSKA outplayed Deya Sport 3-0 in sets (25:22, 27:25, 25:21) in a match played in Hristo Botev Hall.

Sasho Popov's team controlled the match for most of its duration. CSKA was stable in reception, worked well with retrieved balls in defense, and made few unforced errors. A key moment was the second set, in which the hosts were trailing for a long time, but in the decisive rallies, they managed to impose their will. This predetermined the outcome of the third set as well, where CSKA dictated the tempo and did not allow the opponent to get back into the match.

Mohamed Bake was the top scorer with 12 points, including 2 blocks, 50% attack efficiency, and 72% positive reception. Todor Kostov and Nikolay Penchev finished with 10 points each – Kostov with 77% attack efficiency, and Penchev with 56% in attack and 79% positive reception. Spas Bayrev made his debut for CSKA, recording 7 points with 50% attack efficiency.

With this success, CSKA climbed to second place in the standings. After 11 matches, the 'Reds' have 8 wins and 27 points. In the next round, Sasho Popov's team will visit Montana on January 23, and before that, matches from the Bulgarian Cup tournament are scheduled. On January 16, at 19:30, CSKA will face Deya Sport again in the quarterfinals in Samelion Hall in Samokov.
