Montpellier without Nikolay Kartev defeated Projekt Warsaw in five sets in the Champions League

French team Montpellier achieved a dramatic home victory, with the hosts' new addition Nikolay Kırtev not included in the squad for the match. Nevertheless, the team showed greater consistency in crucial moments and defeated PGE Project Warsaw after a tie-break 3:2 (25:21, 22:25, 27:25, 22:25, 15:12).

The hosts started more confidently and took the first set, taking advantage of the Poles' hesitation in attack and on serve – 25:21. Project Warsaw reacted in the second set, improved their serve and block play, and equalized after 25:22.

The third set was extremely competitive, with long rallies and frequent comebacks. Montpellier showed more composure at the end and took the lead again – 27:25. The Polish team did not give up and, with the good contribution of Brandon Koppers and the stable performance of Linus Weber, achieved success in the fourth set – 25:22.

In the tie-break, the French squad demonstrated better team play. Strong serving and effective counter-attack play brought a decisive advantage, and Montpellier closed the match at 15:12.
