The match in Szeged was DEAC's first game of 2026 in the Hungarian Men's Extraliga, and the Debrecen team achieved their preliminary goal – three points as visitors. Only in the second set did the hosts manage to put up more serious resistance.
In the first set, the score was tied at 5:5, after which DEAC made a 3:0 run and gradually took control. It was an ace by Ivan Tasev that extended the lead to five points (13:8), and the visitors did not relinquish the initiative until the end. The set was closed after stable play in attack and block – 25:19.
The second set proved to be the most contested. DEAC again dictated the pace and even led 23:19, but Szeged came back into the game and equalized. In the crucial moments, however, the visitors' class shone through, and Moret Vargas Marlon took responsibility in attack to secure the 26:24 victory.
After losing the second set, the hosts visibly retreated psychologically. In the third set, DEAC quickly built a significant lead (7:1), which they maintained until the end. Even a few wobbles did not threaten the success, and the last point again came after an attack by Marlon – 25:18 and a clean 3:0 sets.
With this sixth victory, DEAC is in sixth place in the provisional standings in the Extraliga.
