Spas Bayrev is CSKA's new opposite

CSKA officially presented Spas Bayrev as a new signing for the spring part of the efbet Super Volley championship. The 32-year-old opposite hitter is leaving Beroe 2016 (Stara Zagora), where he played since 2022, and is joining the "Reds" without being on loan.

Bayrev is expected to bring more stability to the opposite hitter position in Alexander Popov's squad, which since the start of the season has relied on the Australian Hamish Hazelden and the club's academy product Aleksandar Manushev. Until now, Beroe 2016 was the only team in the volleyball elite with two competing opposite hitters.

Parallel to Bayrev's signing, CSKA also registered several youth players, and with this development, there is a real possibility that Hamish Hazelden might leave the club, with the chance for this estimated at 50/50.
