Epidemic in Projekt Warsaw darkens the derby against Bogdanka Lublin

The anticipated hit from the Polish PlusLiga program between champion Bogdanka LUK Lublin and league leader PGE Projekt Warsaw, scheduled to be played today, is seriously threatened in terms of sporting intrigue. The capital club announced widespread health problems in its squad and will have an extremely limited number of players available.

Projekt arrives in Lublin with seven definite absentees due to infections with fever, and two more have shown symptoms during the journey. Thus, coach Tommy Tiilikainen will be able to use only seven volleyball players, including setters Jan Firlej and Michał Kozłowski, outside hitters Kévin Tillie and Brandon Koppers, liberos Damian Wojtaszek and Maciej Olenderek, as well as middle blocker Yurii Semeniuk, who returned after illness.

The match pits the first and second teams in the standings against each other, with the Warsaw team having one more victory. In the last round, Projekt easily defeated Skra Bełchatów, while Bogdanka, led by Wilfredo León, needed a tie-break against Cuprum Stilon Gorzów, which they won 15:12.

The Warsaw club requested a postponement of the match, but due to the busy calendar, this was not possible. The option of a forfeit loss was categorically rejected.

The match between Bogdanka LUK Lublin and PGE Projekt Warsaw will be played today at 9:00 PM in Lublin.
