Preslav Petkov with a key role in Sorrento's dramatic success

Romeo Sorrento defeated Rinascita Volley Lagonegro with a score of 3:2 (25:21, 23:25, 19:25, 25:18, 15:13) in a match from the 11th round of Serie A2 Credem Banca, which lasted over two hours and featured constant twists and turns throughout the individual sets.

Among the strongest figures in the host team's lineup was Preslav Petkov – the Bulgarian national and middle blocker for Sorrento.
Petkov played a very stable and disciplined match, finishing with 9 points. With no attack errors and a 63% success rate, the Bulgarian was a reliable option in the first rally, especially in key moments of the first and fourth sets.

However, his true value stood out in blocking – 4 point blocks, some of which came against Lagonegro's main scorer Cantagalli and had a direct influence on the outcome of individual sets. Although he did not record an ace, his serve was tactically aimed and with limited risk (only 2 errors from 12 attempts).

Petkov had a decisive contribution primarily in the first set, when with two consecutive successful blocks against Cantagalli, he helped close the set at 25:21 and gave his team a psychological advantage.

After the 1:1 tie and a strong third set for the visitors (19:25), Sorrento managed to get back into the match with a more aggressive serve and stable block. In these moments, Petkov was again a factor at the center of the net – both with point-scoring interventions and good block organization.

In the tie-break, the battle was point for point until 12:12, but an ace from Iurishi and a subsequent successful finish brought victory to the Campanians. With this success, Sorrento solidified its position in the standings, and Preslav Petkov once again showed that he is among the stable middle blockers in the league and a reliable option for the Bulgarian national team.

Lagonegro left with one point and a strong performance, but the evening at PalaAttiliana logically belongs to the Bulgarian presence in Serie A2 as well.
