Turkey won the U20 Women's European Volleyball Championship title in Sofia. In a spectacular final match, Turkey defeated Italy 3-2 in sets (22:25, 25:16, 25:19, 17:25, 15:11).
Bulgaria co-hosted the championship with Ireland for 12 days (August 5-17). The medals were distributed in the 'Hristo Botev' hall in the capital, in front of the President of the Bulgarian Volleyball Federation, Lyubomir Ganev.
The match lasted 99 minutes and was officiated by Bulgarian referee Atanas Varbanov.
The most effective player in the final for Italy was Merit Chinonyerem Adigwe with 22 points, while for Turkey it was Beren Yesilirmak.
The third place was also decided by a tie-break earlier, with the bronze medals going to the team of Belgium, who broke Poland with 3:2 (25:23, 21:25, 13:25, 25:15, 15:10).
