Minior Pernik shocked CSKA in Sofia after a complete turnaround

Minior Pernik achieved one of the most surprising victories since the start of the season in Bulgaria's women's volleyball elite. In a match from the 9th round, the Pernik team defeated CSKA 3:2 (16:25, 23:25, 26:24, 25:23, 15:13) sets in the 'Vasil Simov' hall, after overturning the match from a 0:2 deficit. The 'Armygirls' squandered a significant lead and allowed the visitors to leave with a valuable success and two points in the standings.

Two sets of control for CSKA

CSKA started the match confidently and already in the first set demonstrated their role as favorites. After a 2:2 tie, the hosts set their pace, dominated on serve and in attack, and closed the set with ease at 25:16.

In the second set, Martin Mihaylov's volleyball players took a 3:2 lead, but then the scenario from the first part repeated. The 'Reds' controlled the game, stabilized their reception, and took the set 25:23, coming one step closer to victory.

The missed match points that changed the match

The third set proved to be a turning point. The tie persisted until 8:8, after which Yuliya Ivanova-Mincheva's trainees asserted control over the game. CSKA reached four match points, but at that moment Minyor showed character. The Pernik team scored six consecutive points and snatched the set 26:24, bringing the intrigue back into the match.

Minyor equalized after a tough battle

In the fourth set, the visitors maintained a minimal lead for most of the time. The score was tied at 23:23, but with two consecutive points, the players in black closed the set 25:23 and leveled the overall score – 2:2 sets.

Tie-break with comebacks and composure

In the decisive set, Minyor led 3:1, but then CSKA scored a series of five consecutive points. However, the Pernik team responded, regained their lead at 11:10, and were the first to reach match point. With their second chance, they closed the tie-break 15:13 and completed the full comeback.

After the loss, CSKA remains in third place in the standings with 6 wins and 3 losses. Minyor Pernik occupies 8th position with 3 wins and 6 defeats.
