President of LUK Lublin: "We really want Alex Grozdanov to stay"

Bogdanka LUK Lublin president Krzysztof Skubiszewski stated in an interview with TVP Sport that the club is actively negotiating to retain Bulgarian international Alex Grozdanov, whom he described as "one of the best middle blockers in the world." According to him, Lublin is "very satisfied" with the player's performance and is optimistic about the chances of convincing him to stay next season, despite information that emerged in recent weeks about interest from Asseco Resovia.

Extended contracts with Leon, Komenda, and Sasak – a strategic move

The interview confirms that the club has managed to retain its key trio Wilfredo Leon, Marcin Komenda, and Kevin Sasak, who signed until the 2026/2027 season.
The decision comes amidst an unusually early start to the transfer market, which – according to Skubiszewski – is working like a "snowball effect" and forcing all leading clubs to react faster than ever.

Each of the three had offers from competitors, but LUK Lublin managed to convince them to stay to maintain the stability needed to fight for trophies.

Special case: Wilfredo Leon

The situation around Leon was the most complex – including due to very strong interest from PGE Projekt Warszawa and Resovia.
Despite the club's official announcement, his manager emphasizes that the image rights part of the contract has not yet been signed, and Skubiszewski refuses to comment publicly on the matter.

Focus on the future

The president stated that the club:

  • still has contracts with a "plus one" option, which will likely be utilized;

  • does not plan a major reconstruction in order to preserve the team's backbone;

  • is conducting difficult but advanced negotiations with a new player who, if signed, will be described as a "PlusLiga transfer hit".
