Olympiacos won the Nikos Samaras League Cup – Kourtev and Kolev's PAOK were close to a comeback

Olympiacos triumphed with the Nikos Samaras League Cup for the eighth time, after defeating PAOK 3:1 (25:18, 25:20, 25:23, 25:23). Antonis Vourderis's team dominated early on, and Aleksandar Atanasijević was the top scorer with 25 points and crucial serves in decisive moments. It is also noteworthy that the match took place in the 'Andreas Varikas' hall in Nea Smyrni, where Panionios – the team of his wife Elitsa Vasileva-Atanasijević – trains and plays its home matches. Due to security measures, the match was played behind closed doors with strict control procedures. This is the fourth final between the two giants in the tournament's history. Olympiacos won the previous three (2016, 2017, 2024), and today's victory secured the Piraeus team its eighth title in the competition. PAOK, after six final appearances, remains the only leading Greek club without a trophy in the League Cup. Both teams reached the trophy match after emotional and tense victories in the final eight. PAOK eliminated the previously undefeated Milon 3:1 in sets and showed character against Floisvos with a dramatic 3:2 win. Olympiacos went through a tough five-set match with Foinikas Syros, and in the semi-finals, they overcame Panathinaikos 3:1.

PAOK, with Bulgarians Nikolay Kartev and Nikolay Kolev in its ranks, showed strong character and won the third set after a power outage.

Nikolay Kolev scored 12 points (8/11 in attack and 4 blocks), whileNikolay Kartev finished with 7 points (2/5 attacks, 1 ace and 4 blocks), with both being among the most stable elements in the team's play. Their work in the middle helped PAOK take a 20:15 lead in the fourth set, but Olympiacos mounted a comeback through Perin and Atanasijević, closing out the match.

Kartev's and Kolev's participation in the final highlighted the Bulgarian presence in the strongest Greek clubs, and PAOK's performance leaves hope for future successes.
